Summer Learning Journey

Day 5: Looking into the Future

Activity 1: Your Future Self
It may be hard to imagine, but one day you will graduate from high school and it will be time to decide what to do next. You may want to study at university, become an apprentice, go to training college, travel, or start working. There are so many options!

Take a minute to think about your future. What would you like to do when you finish school? Would you like to work in a specific job? Would you like to study at university? What would you study? Maybe you’d even like to move overseas. Share your thoughts and ideas on your blog site. There are no wrong answers!

When I finish school I wanna go to university and get a good education and after that I wanna go over seas and study.

Activity 2: Flying Cars
Let’s imagine that you’ve just learned to drive, and your family has decided to buy you a brand new car. You are allowed to choose from any of the following designs:

I would pick a white flying car because flying white cars a so cool .And maybe it would be better for the traffic.

Bonus Activity: Blade Runner 2049

There is a new movie out in cinemas at the moment called Blade Runner 2049.

It is a movie about what the world will be like in the future. Imagine that you able to travel through time and that you can see what the world will look like in 2099.

On your blog write a description of what New Zealand will be like at that time (80 – 90 years from now). What kind of houses will people live in? What will they eat? Where will they work?
People would live in like 1-2 story houses And they would eat cereal and pancakes with syrup. They will work in town.

BONUS POINTS: 20

Congratulations! You have now travelled through time and learned about over 200 years of New Zealand history. Wow!

We hope that you have enjoyed the experience. We would also love to hear what you liked and what you think could be improved for next year’s programme.

  1. Hey there Akesa, thanks for completing another set of activities. Well done! You have made your way through the Summer Learning Journey, and so quickly! I hope you continue to comment and give feedback to other students.

It's great that you want to go to university and study when you're older. What would you like to study? What kind of work do you think you would like to do when you are all grown up? Where would you like to go overseas?

Thank you for also sharing which car you would choose. I think I would choose the white flying car too. It would certainly make getting to work or school a breeze. You could leave really late and still get there on time. I just hope I wouldn't crash!

You've got some interesting ideas for what the future might be like. Do you think there will be any robots? How will they help us?

Thanks, can't wait to hear more of your ideas.

    Billy

  2. Hi Akesa,
I liked the way you said that people will eat cereal and pancakes with syrup .Maybe you could change what they eat into something that people don't usually eat. This reminds me of the first time I tried pancakes it was delicious. Have you ever tried pancakes?
