Summer Learning Journey #Week 2

#Week 2 Day 1 Activity 3: ‘Dear Jacinda’

For this activity, please write a letter that includes the issue you have chosen, why you have chosen it, and what you would like our Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, to do about it. It is your job to persuade us (and her!) that it’s an important issue.
On your blog, share your letter to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Dear Prime Minister,
As you've heard the measles outbreak in Samoa is very sad and very unhappy to watch our young generations dying from this disease. It would be very helpful for you to send some Doctors/Nurses there to help prevent this disease from spreading, It saddens my heart to see children dying at a very young age so I hope you consider helping those in Samoa.

Kind Regards : Kesa

  1. Kia ora Akesa,

You have chosen a really relevant and important topic- The Measles Outbreak in Samoa.

The Measeles outbreak started back in October when someone who had measles at the time flew over to Samoa. Unfortunately by september it was spreading quickly which led to the December 2nd curfew and cancellation of christmas celebrations.

Did you know that a lot of countries helped Samoa? New Zealand sent 28 nurses over to help assist. While countries like Hawaii sent a team of 75 doctors and nurses. The World Bank also lent money to Samoa in order to help treat patients and to develop a better health care plan over 5 years.

I did not know this at all. I googled this because the news has not brought this up recently due to different news. I believe New Zealand should have sent more doctors and nurses considering we have a strong relationship with Samoa. What do you think?

Keep up the awesome work Akesa!

    Cheers,
    Georgia
