Summer Learning Journey #Week 3

Activity 3: Choose your own

For this activity, choose one person and read all about them.
On your blog, provide us with:
  1. The name of the person
  2. A description of the work they do/have done
  3. An explanation of how they/their work has had an impact on the lives of others

1.) Name of the person - Taitusi Taufa

2.)Taufa is currently teaching chemistry at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. Taufa collectes samples from marine sponges, sea cucumber and sea squirts.

3.) His story started when he was just 8 years of age, he accidentally poked a stick in his cousins eye and when they went to the doctors they couldn't do anything. But a traditional healer in his neighbouring village applied drops from a local plant and within a month his cousin could see again.

  1. Hey again Akesa,

I have never heard about Taitusi Taufa before. After doing this programme and reading students blogs I have learnt so much about new people. Specifically about people who are changing or who have changed the world.

That is a massive accomplishment (something that has been achieved successfully). Finding anti-cancer properties in marine plants that are in Tonga. I think this is amazing. Taitusi traditional healing practices and how some have worked throughout the years. For example ginger (anti-nausea remedy) and thyme apparently relaxes your lung muscles. Have a look at this website and all the plants that helps your system https://preppersunlimited.com/list-herbs-uses/

Let me know if you find any interesting uses! I’m keen to find out more :)

    Blog you later,
    Georgia
